For those of you who are familiar with Jack Canfield, co-creator of Chicken Soup For the Soul, you may know that he recently wrote and published his book about creating your ideal life, The Success Principles: How to Get From Where You Are to Where You Want to Be. I had the opportunity to meet Jack last Thursday as he visited Salt Lake City. I even had a few minutes alone with him. I found him charming and engaging, humorous and confident.
I was able to attend a two-hour special training session with about twenty to thirty people from the coaching company for which I develop training and coaching materials. Jack shared a few of the most important principles of the 64 he has included in his book. He knows that we coach Stephen Covey's work, so he shared a bit of humor with us: He was asked in a television interview, "Why 64 principles? Why not a fewer number, like seven? Stephen Covey has Seven Habits." He replied, "Stephen Covey just came out with his Eighth Habit; I figure he's just working his way up."
One of the things I enjoy most about The Success Principles is that it is a collection of the principles and processes that so many successful people have used to achieve success for many years. Like Stephen Covey, Jack is open about the fact that he has simply pulled together the commonalities that he has seen between all the successful people he has interviewed and studied over the years. These principles have been tested and tried in the real world. And he has a great challenge: read this book and apply its principles, and within two years you'll double your income and double your time off. I'm at the beginning of my journey; what about you?
